ABOUT US
Denim Care - a specialized company focused on innovative yet simple to use products with a vision to help prolong the lifetime of denim clothing.
It’s no secret that the production of denim is harsh on the environment.
In fact, every step of the manufacturing process of denim requires toxic chemicals - from the cultivation of cotton to the processing of the materials - whereof the dying process by far is the most prominent step. The classic indigo blue color that we all love and adore in most cases contains not just harmful chemicals, but due to the colorant ’s incapabilities of dissolving in water, additional chemicals such as odium hydrosulfite and caustic soda is added for the dying process to happen. Exception being the natural indigo used by some of the finest denim makers.
A constant release of hazardous waste is therefore happening via wastewater of the production process, leading to ecological disruption and excessive pollution.
It is clear that something needs to be done and this is the backbone of Denim Care’s vision: to help prolong the lifetime of denim clothing. We cannot control the overproduction of denim garments but we can help make sure that the already produced clothes are used and loved for as long time as possible.
In most cases all that is needed is spot cleaning and refreshing of garments with anti-bacterial and anti-odor properties.
Our range of products are all specifically made for the denim fabric and with the purpose of reducing the machine/hand washing of denim in households. In most cases all that is needed is spot cleaning and refreshing of garments with anti-bacterial and anti-odor properties. Washing denim garments in washing machines should only be done when really needed and preferably done by hand washing in lukewarm water. Why? Every machine run with jeans fabric releases microfibers and micro plastics into the marine environment and at the same time the fabric wears out faster. In many cases the washing is primarily being done by routine and without the garment actually being in need of the wash.
